SNF honored by New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children
NYSPCC works to provide legal, educational, and counseling assistance to support children who have been abused or neglected, while also working to stop abuse before it happens. Its critical mission of safeguarding children has also been a long-term priority for SNF.
In 2013, the Foundation provided support for the Safe Touches program at NYSPCC, already an SNF partner at that point. A few years later, ELIZA, an SNF partner in Greece, reached out to the Foundation about replicating the Safe Touches program in Greek primary schools. ELIZA received training from NYSPCC experts, adapted the latter’s curriculum for a Greek audience, and ran a pilot for children ages 5 to 9 in Greece, where the program that resulted from this collaboration is still active today.
“As we are all trying to recover from this devastating global pandemic, COVID, I believe that we have all realized that there is a lot we, as a collective human global society, have to do to improve,” remarked SNF Co-President Andreas Dracopoulos. ”And the ongoing need of the most vulnerable at large will remain at the forefront of what each of us can do to make this a better world for all.”

As World Children’s Day approaches on November 20, SNF is also grateful for the collaborative efforts of our partners, current and past, to safeguard children’s welfare and secure hopeful futures for them—from NYSPCC in New York, to ELIZA in Greece, to Enfance et Partage in France, to Save the Children Spain, to Street Child in Liberia and Sierra Leone, to Pratham in India, and beyond.
